Controversial Amp project comes to an end

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Nashville officials announced Thursday that work on the controversial bus rapid transit system has come to an end.

The Amp project would have connected east and west Nashville with dedicated rapid bus lanes through the city down West End Avenue.

Opponents of the project argued it would create greater traffic problems and have a negative impact on businesses along the route, but proponents thought it would ease the congested traffic along the West End corridor.

The CEO of Metro Transit Authority said even though Amp is done, they will move forward with strategic planning for another transit project to address traffic concerns.
