FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – Hunters Bend Elementary School in Franklin was evacuated Wednesday morning due to an odor of natural gas.
The Franklin Police Department tweeted about the evacuation at 8:30 a.m.
Ten minutes later, the department said no danger had been detected using special equipment. They said they were acting “in an abundance of caution.”
Students were outside for about 10 minutes before they were able to reenter the school. They were held in the gymnasium while the fire department completed a second sweep of the school.
The all-clear was given and activity returned to normal before 9:30 a.m.
Hunters Bend Elementary School is located in the Fieldstone Farms subdivision off Hillsboro Road, north of downtown Franklin.
