NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A minor traffic stop for a seat belt violation turned into a major marijuana bust for Mt. Juliet police last Thursday.
Authorities said Miguel Rodriguez was pulled over on Jan. 15 as he was driving without a seat belt on West Division Street.
As the office was speaking to him, Rodriguez reportedly appeared extremely nervous and a strong odor of marijuana was coming from his car.
Rodriguez then told officers he had a marijuana pipe, but police found much more.
They discovered two grams of weed hidden inside M&M candy containers and a duffle bag containing 39 grams of marijuana in pre-packaged baggies and containers.
Mt. Juliet police also reportedly found multiple pipes, Swisher Sweet cigarillos, five home marijuana drug tests and a large machete.
They also learned Rodriguez had an outstanding warrant in Nashville for failure to be booked.
He was booked on multiple drug charges as well as possession of a prohibited weapon. His bond was set to $15,000.
