NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A medical issue may have played a role in a deadly accident in Nashville Tuesday afternoon that claimed the life of an Alabama truck driver.
The accident involving Phillip Ellison happened as he exited Briley Parkway onto Murfreesboro Pike just before Noon.
Police said the 55-year-old crossed Murfreesboro Pike without making any attempt to break before striking an embankment.
Ellison sustained injuries to his head that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said. He was transported to Southern Hills Medical Center where he later died.
There was no evidence of drug or alcohol involvement at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
