NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A motorcyclist died Monday afternoon after losing control on the Briley Parkway overpass and landing on Interstate 40 below.
It happened in the westbound lanes around 3:40 p.m. where the two highways meet in Donelson, not far from the Nashville International Airport.
Metro police told News 2 the driver, tentatively identified as a 43-year-old man from La Vergne, was attempting to pass a Buick LaCrosse on the left shoulder of the entrance ramp when he struck the sedan.
The motorcyclist went over a retaining wall before coming to a rest on the below interstate.
Police said the motorcyclist did not have any identification with him at the time of the crash.
There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene.
Westbound lanes of I-40 were closed until around 8:30 p.m. and the off-ramp remained closed until 10 p.m.
