NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Light snow and freezing mist created dangerous driving conditions for some in Middle Tennessee early Wednesday morning.

While the precipitation was very light, temperatures were below freezing temperatures and the ground was very cold, creating icy conditions in some spots.

Several schools are closed or opening late. View the complete list at

The precipitation started east and south of Nashville before Midnight, but snow and more freezing mist fell in Dickson and west Nashville before 4 a.m.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol worked several wrecks and urged drives to be careful driving on bridges and overpasses.

Any icy that developed is expected to melt by 9 a.m. as temperatures rise.

The forecast for Wednesday calls for partial sunshine, but temps will remain chilly, only in the mid to upper 30s for highs.

There is a slight chance of a wintry mix Wednesday night through early Thursday.
