NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday in downtown Nashville for the new Westin hotel destined for a major intersection near the Music City Center.
The $120 million project at the Eighth Avenue roundabout will feature 27 stories, 430 rooms, and more than 25,000 square feet of meeting space.
Guests will also have a signature restaurant for dining and a rooftop pool lounge.
Mayor Dean was on hand for the ceremony and said The Westin is an investment into our city that goes beyond money.
“This hotel is going to be part of the energy of this city. It’s going to help this city move forward as the center of hospitality, help our convention center and it’s going to help all our visitors who absolutely want and need these rooms,” Dean explained.
He told the small crowd that hotels have been one of his biggest concerns during his tenure, making Wednesday a good day for the city.
“Nashville has continued to set records for tourism, continued to set records for hotel occupancy and it is truly one of the hottest cities in the world,” Dean added.
The Westin is set to open its doors to guests the summer of 2016.
