FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – Williamson Medical Center in Franklin welcomed its first baby in 2015 with the birth of Eva Schmitt at 9:27 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Eva’s mom Jarrett Schmitt went into labor 16 days early.
“This is our first baby and since she wasn’t due until Jan. 17, we never thought that we would deliver early,” Jarrett said. “I have a friend who is pregnant with twins and I thought there was no way I’d go before her, but I did.”
Jarrett and her husband Ryan spent New Year’s Eve at a friend’s home. They came home and her water broke around Midnight. They packed up and headed to the hospital and were admitted shortly after.
Little Eva came into the world weighing just 5 pounds, 6 ounces.
The couple was given a big wagon filled with goodies complete with a giant teddy bear for delivering the first baby in the New Year.
