HOUSTON, Texas (WKRN) – A Boston Marathon survivor who recently decided to have her leg amputated after more than a year of pain has taken her first steps.

Rebekah DiMartino was just 10 feet away from an exploding bomb on April 15, 2013. After undergoing 17 surgeries, she decided to have her leg amputated in November.

In a short video posted on DiMartino’s Facebook page Wednesday, the young mother took her first steps on her prosthetic leg.

In the video, DiMartino is heard saying, “I have to get faster. I have two marathons to run in.”

DiMartino, according to WPVI-TV, is training to run in the Boston Marathon in April.
