Semi fire slows traffic on I-65 South in Williamson County

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – A tractor-trailer caught fire Sunday afternoon on Interstate 65 South in Williamson County.

It happened shortly after 4 p.m. when the semi became fully engulfed in flames underneath the McEwen Drive overpass.

Franklin officials said the fire was brought under control by 4:30 p.m.

The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their injuries and condition have yet to be released.

TDOT bridge inspectors were called to the scene to check the bridge, although there doesn’t seem to be structural damage.

Traffic was slowed and backed up through the area as crews worked the scene.
