RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – The friend of a young Rutherford County mother who recently passed away is raising money to help her family.
Keri England Victory, 30, died on Dec. 9 from cancer.
“She had been battling it fiercely for roughly two and a half years,” explained Suzie Thornton.
Thornton knew Keri well. They were childhood buddies that remained friends until Keri’s death earlier this month.
Family and friends described her as strong, courageous and dignified. Keri was also a teacher, wife and mother to 5-year-old Cale and 2-year-old Reese.
As Christmas crept closer, the pain of the loss motivated Thornton to start a GoFundMe page to raise money for Keri’s family.
“The fund took on a life of its own,” explained Thornton.
She sent emails to friends, professional contacts and everyone she could think of. Her original goal was to raise $30,000 in 30 days, but she surpassed that amount by more than $1,000.
Thornton said nothing can erase what happened or return what’s been lost, but she’s thankful for the generosity that has been shown to Keri’s family.
