NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – No one enjoys long airport lines, taking off your shoes and pulling all of your liquids out of your bags.
Traveler Noel Roehl found a way around all of that by joining the Transportation Security Administration’s new Pre-check program.
“I am always running late so to speak. Those lines sometimes get kind of long. This takes you past those lines and gets you ahead of the line and makes it a whole lot nicer,” said Roehl.
The TSA Pre-check program offers travelers a faster security screening experience.
Through the TSA program you can keep your shoes, coat and belt on. You can leave your laptop and liquids in your bag and the program is good for five years.
To sign up, travelers can make an appointment through the TSA website and fill out an application.
They will take your fingerprints and it will cost $85.
“After that, you wait about five to 10 business days, and you’ll get a letter in the mail with what we call a known traveler number,” said Mark Howell with the TSA.
Nashville International Airport sees about 47 applications per day for the program. 750,000 people have signed up nationwide.
“Not having to take your shoes off and all that kind of stuff is a very nice convenience in today’s travel,” said Roehl.
The TSA pre-check program is available at more than 120 US airports.
