SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Springfield man was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for possessing child porn.

The verdict was handed down for 36-year-old Jason Mikula Thursday.

On Aug. 28, he pleaded guilty to receipt and possession of two child pornography offenses.

Mikula previously served time in the state penitentiary after he was convicted in 2005 for aggravated sexual battery of a very young child and multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

He was released in Aug. 2012 and placed on lifetime supervision with the state. Authorities said within seven months of his release, Mikula obtained a number of sexually explicit images involving children, including images of violence perpetrated against very young victims.

After Mikula serves his current sentence, he will be placed on supervised release for 15 years and will be required to participate in sex offender treatment, among other conditions.
