Franklin remains may be linked to missing Nashville woman

Police are on the scene where a body was found near a Franklin subdivision last week,

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police are investigating a possible link between remains found last week in Franklin to Sara Martinez, who went missing from a south Nashville nightclub in 2009 and is presumed dead.

The remains were discovered last Wednesday after a motorist reported finding a skull off Road of the Roundtable near an entrance to the Avalon subdivision.

Officers, including those from Metro Nashville, returned to the scene Tuesday.

Sara Martinez, 20, was last seen on March 9, 2009 at Club Guadalajara on Old Hickory Boulevard in south Nashville.

A Metro police spokesperson told News 2 they are investigating if the remains belong to Martinez.

Martinez went missing from Club Guadalajara on Old Hickory Boulevard in south Nashville on March 9, 2009.

Jose Morano was the last person known to have been with Martinez.

His vehicle was found abandoned a few weeks later. There was a significant amount of blood in and around the front passenger seat and DNA testing confirmed the blood was from Martinez.

Morano was later arrested in North Carolina and eventually charged with Martinez’s murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
