Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger is “doubtful” for Sunday’s game with the New York Jets after aggravating his right shoulder injury against the New York Giants.
A number of reports Monday stated Mettenberger was out for the season, but Whisenhunt said they have “legitimate” hope that the rookie quarterback from LSU will be back this season.
He’s left the last two games in the second half with the same shoulder injury. Mettenberger indicated coming off of the field this injury is worse than the one he first suffered.
Jake Locker starts the rest of the way for the Titans unless Mettenberger makes a miraculous comeback.
Whisenhunt called Locker’s attitude “excellent” and anticipates he will be excited to play.
Locker will be likely auditioning for other teams around the league, his Titans contract is up following these last three games.
