NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested Saturday morning on his fifth offense for driving under the influence in Davidson County.
According to an affidavit, Dennis Smith was involved in a car accident and the officer on scene smelled alcohol on him.
Smith, 52, admitted to drinking five or six beers and there were two opened beer cans in his vehicle, according to the report.
Smith reportedly had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.
The police report claims Smith has been convicted of four DUI charges, which required a mandatory blood draw.
Smith refused and was unable to perform field sobriety tasks due to problems with his back.
Smith was charged with his fifth offense for driving under the influence of an intoxicant and implied consent.
His bond was set at $51,000.
