Operation: Send Some Cheer creates care packages for soldiers

An event that aims to evoke 1,000 smiles through 1,000 holiday care packages kicked off Sunday in Nashville.

Operation: Send Some Cheer was a community event aimed at assembling care packages and writing letters of appreciation to deployed soldiers overseas.

Attendees were asked to either make a donation or bring items to include in the care packages for soldiers.

“We know being away from home is difficult, but the holidays are especially hard. These care packages are the least we can do to honor our heroes and show support,” the Operation Send Some Cheer website states.

Held at the American Legion on Elm Hill Pike, it featured a free concert, photo booth, country artists and drink and food specials.
