Murfreesboro officer, 2 others injured in crash

Three people were injured in a crash in Murfreesboro early Sunday morning, including a Murfreesboro police officer.

It happened near the Shoney’s restaurant on South Church Street around 3:30 a.m. when the officer was on his way home from work.

He was taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, but information regarding his condition wasn’t immediately known.

The officer also had a K-9 in the patrol car with him. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian as a precaution.

The driver of the second vehicle had to be extracted and was transported to the same hospital, while the passenger was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The conditions of the driver of the second vehicle and passenger weren’t released.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
