Metro police responded to a roof-top break in at a shopping complex in south Nashville Thursday morning.

It happened at a complex located at 6601 Sugar Valley Dr. in Cane Ridge.

Authorities estimated the suspect may have been in the stores for an hour before an alarm finally triggered the police response.

An initial investigation revealed the suspect broke into the store by dropping in through the roof.

Police believe that once the burglar gained access to one store via the roof, they cut through the dry wall to enter adjacent stores.

As many as five stores may have been burgled and two vacant stores damaged.

The complex contains an optometrist’s office, a karate studio, an insurance agency and pizzeria.

The investigation is ongoing.
