TRIGG COUNTY, Ky. (WKRN) – Kentucky State Police are investigating after three family members and a man were found shot to death inside a home Sunday.
The incident happened around 11:40 a.m. at a home on Old Dover Road in Cadiz, about 90 miles northwest of Nashville.
Three of the victims were identified as 62-year-old B. Lindsey Champion, 60-year-old Joy Champion and their daughter Emily Champion, a 31-year-old veterinarian who was in town visiting her parents.
“It’s a huge loss, a devastating loss for our congregation and community,” Cadiz Church of Christ minister Randall Evans said. “We’re still in shock. When we look for answers we can’t find that answer and even if we did it wouldn’t change what happened.
Authorities said the retired couple’s adult son witnessed the deadly attack. He was treated at a local hospital for his injuries.
“This is a pretty gruesome crime,” said Officer Jay Thomas with the Kentucky State Police. “For something like this to happen, to have multiple murders at one location, it’s not very often this does happen, but it does happen from time to time.”
The fourth gunshot victim, who is also being considered the suspect, was identified as 22-year-old Vito Riservato of Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Police told News 2 the family had just recently met Riservato and he had only been to their home one other time prior to the shooting.
An autopsy Tuesday confirmed the victims were shot to death.
The investigation is ongoing.
