Traffic slow on I-24 in Smyrna after vehicle fire (Image 1)

Traffic was slow moving on Interstate 24 East after an SUV rolled over and caught fire in the median.

It happened just west of Exit 70 near Almaville Road in Smyrna around 4:28 p.m.

A Toyota 4Runner traveling westbound was changing lanes when it almost struck another vehicle. The driver overcorrected and the SUV rolled over into the median and caught fire.

Both the driver and passenger got out through a back window.

The passenger had minor lacerations to his right arm. He was treated at the scene.

The driver was cited for due care and not having a valid driver’s license.

No other vehicles were struck.
