A 9-year-old boy slowly going blind was able to fulfill one his wishes by seeing the Northern Lights before losing his vision completely.
Ben Pierce, from Dallas, Texas, was born premature with a rare condition called retinopathy, according to the Alaskan website Newsminer.
He recently traveled to Alaska thanks to a generous Alaska Airlines pilot who heard about his dream.
Ben’s mom, Heidi, told Newsminer the look on his face under the colorful Alaskan night sky was unforgettable.
“They were like watercolors painting the sky,” Ben said. “Yellow and Green. No blues or reds, though.”
Ben has several more things on his list like the Grand Canyon, which the family is planning to visit next week. The family also plans to travel to Paris and Britain next year with air miles that were donated to them.
