A young boy was injured after falling into a large cat exhibit Friday morning at the Little Rock Zoo in Arkansas.
City officials told KATV in Little Rock the boy, described as a toddler, fell into the jaguar exhibit around 10:45 a.m.
Zoo staff used fire extinguishers to keep the animals away from the child while a zoo staffer climbed into the exhibit and retrieved the boy.
KATV reported the child was conscious and responding when he was handed back to his father.
Both father and son were taken by golf cart to the Zoo’s back gate where they were met by paramedics.
Witnesses told KATV they saw the boy bleeding from the head when the ambulance arrived.
The unidentified boy was listed in critical condition at a local hospital.
