Cleveland Browns linebacker Chris Kirksey was fined $8,268 Wednesday for a late hit on Titans quarterback Jake Locker last Sunday.
Kirkey delivered a blow to Locker’s head in the end zone after Locker had already scored a touchdown giving Tennessee a 14-0 lead.
Locker called it a “cheap shot” and many of the Titans expressed disappointment over the play and called for Kirksey to be ejected.
Kirksey was flagged for a personnel foul, but so was the Titans Michael Oher after he came to the defense of his quarterback.
Kirksey will reportedly appeal the fine.
Browns head coach Mike Pettine said Kirksey was coming off of a block and he is not a dirty player.
