A New York high school football player died on Wednesday night after he suffered a head injury during a game earlier in the day.
According to ABC News, Tom Cutinella, a linebacker for Shoareham-Wading River High School, collided with an opponent and collapsed during the third quarter of the game.
The teenager was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery for his injury and died a short time later.
Cutinella is the third teen to day in recent days after collapsing on the football field. In North Carolina last Friday, linebacker Isaiah Langston died from a blood clot in the brain after he collapsed during warm-ups.
Demario Harris Jr., a linebacker at an Alabama school died Sunday after he collapsed on the field Friday following a tackle.
