Tennessee football lost linebacker Dillon Bates for the season with a torn labrum at Georgia.

Vols head coach Butch Jones announced the loss Monday and said they hope to get Bates a redshirt exemption.

The reserve linebacker was playing almost exclusively on special teams for Tennessee.

Jones said quarterback Justin Worley should be at 100 percent for Saturday’s game with Florida (2-1, 1-1) after briefly leaving a 35-32 loss to Georgia last week with an elbow injury.

Worley missed three series before returning in the fourth quarter.

The status of receivers Von Pearson and Josh Smith remains uncertain as they recover from high ankle sprains. Pearson has missed two games. Smith sat out the Georgia game.
