The boys’ basketball coach at Northeast High School in Clarksville has been placed at an alternative work site pending an investigation by Clarksville police.
Gar “Al” Cooper is currently not working at Northeast High School, where he is also a physical education teacher.
Cooper has been the boys’ basketball coach since 1996.
Natalie Hall, Public Information Officer for the Clarksville Police Department, confirmed to News 2 an investigation is ongoing but did not provide any details.
No charges have been filed at this time.
In 2009, Cooper was charged with domestic assault and harassment after a family member reported him to police. He reportedly called the person eight times in a 45-minute time frame.
Cooper’s brother, Andrew Cooper, is serving a life sentence for the 2007 murder of his ex-wife, Pamela Cooper.
