A Sumner County woman is now facing nine charges, including aggravated assault, after she allegedly told police she deliberately drove through a Portland apartment building.

The incident happened Tuesday at 109 Fireside Drive in Portland, Tennessee.

Police said Tammy Bowman smashed her car into the multi-unit building that afternoon.

The wall was destroyed after the car became lodged halfway through Apartment C.

Bricks and glass flew everywhere. Two women suffered minor injuries. Neighbors told News 2 children were nearby, but luckily unharmed.

“It was crazy,” said resident Logan Miller.

According to investigators, 29-year-old Bowman said she drove through the building on purpose after getting into an argument with another woman who lives there.

After the accident, Bowman called 911.

“Yeah, I just ran through an apartment,” she can be heard saying on the call. “Send emergency vehicles as soon as possible.”

Bowman remains behind bars in the Sumner County jail on $75,000 bond.

The apartment was condemned, forcing residents to live somewhere else.
