Travis Coons won the battle but lost the war. Monday, the Tennessee Titans signed veteran kicker Ryan Succop signaling the end for the rookie from Washington who had just won the Titans kicking competition against Maikon Bonani.
Succop was released by the Kansas City Chiefs after five seasons on Saturday.
During his tenure, Succop hit 81 percent of his field goals with a career long of 54 yards.
Succop has plenty of experience and has played in two career playoff games.
Last season over 50 percent of Succop’s kickoffs went for touchbacks. The Titans cut Rob Bironas after last season after his touchback percentage dipped into the 30s.
Last season Succop hit 22 of 28 field goals for the Chiefs.
