Middle Tennessee names Grammer starting quarterback

Middle Tennessee head coach Rick Stockstill announced sophomore Austin Grammer as the starting quarterback for the Blue Raiders.

Grammer appeared in 10 games for MTSU last season. He completed 21 of 46 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 169 yards and two scores.

After weeks of stiff competition, Grammer beat out redshirt freshman AJ Erdely and true freshman Brent Stockstill for the starting job.

The Blue Raiders open the season Saturday at home against Savannah State. Kickoff is set for 6:00 pm.
