A Metropolitan Transit Authority bus struck a female pedestrian in east Nashville Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. at 1201 Dickerson Pike.

The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with “incapacitating” injuries.

News 2 learned the victim had just exited a bus at Richardson Avenue before crossing in front of it. She reportedly did not see a second MTA bus on the other side and was hit.

Witnesses told News 2 the victim was young, possibly a teenager. Officials, however, have yet to release her identity.

The MTA bus involved in the crash sustained heavy damage to its windshield. Another bus was sent to the scene to pick up the passengers.
