A party was held Monday to celebrate Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert’s duet.
Urban was on hand to sing “We Were Us,” along with the song’s writers and producers.
Lambert was unable to attend in person, but joined the festivities by video.
The two country stars are on different record labels, and Urban said it was a challenge to get the single released.
“Miranda was such an important part of this song for me, insomuch as there was a period when we had recorded the song, and we were looking like we weren’t going to be able to get the single support that we need,” Urban explained.
He went on to say they began to wonder if they should get another vocalist, but it was ultimately decided to keep Lambert’s part of the track intact.
“We Were Us” is on Urban’s new hit album titled “Fuse” and won the ACM’s Vocal Hit of the Year.
