A South Carolina mailman saved the life of a choking baby while he was delivering mail.
According to KGO-TV, Chris Brown was on his route when Stephanie Cooper ran out of her home pleading for help.
Her 11-month-old son Eli was choking on a piece of plastic he had placed in his mouth.
Cooper said she tried with no luck to remove the item from her child’s throat. Brown saw what was happening and quickly ran over to help.
“The mailman didn’t even say a word,” she said. “He just grabbed my son and did the Heimlich on him and out it came.”
Cooper called Brown a hero and an “amazing man.” Brown, however, said he did what anyone else would have done in that situation.
“I really don’t feel that way because to me, I would have done it for anyone, or I hope someone would have done it for my children.”
Brown, who learned the Heimlich maneuver during emergency training by his employer, said this was the first time in his 24 years with the U.S. Post Office that anything like this has happened.
