A pet adoption in Bellevue Saturday honored the life of a well-known Hermitage oncologist killed in a crash last week.

Dr. Eric Raefsky was killed instantly after he was struck by a car driven by 20-year-old Clayton Rogers on August 6. Rogers faces a number of charges following the deadly accident.

Dr. Raefsky, an oncologist at TriStar Summit Medical Center, dedicated his life to helping others and also helped save the lives of dozens of rescue dogs over the years.

On Saturday, Proverbs 12:10, an animal rescue that Dr. Raefsky and his wife worked closely with, held an adoption event at the Petco located on Highway 70 in Bellevue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A public memorial service for Dr. Raefsky, 59, was held Saturday at Noon at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville.
