It might only be August, but June bugs are swarming and expected to stick around for the next two months.

The insect comes out in the northeast from spring to late summer, damaging shrubs and trees around.

Experts say while they are harmful to plants, they don’t bother humans.

Nashville resident Sandra Harrell disagreed and says they’re a nuisance.

“They’re everywhere and they constantly hit you when you’re walking,” Harrel said.

The green beetles don’t bite pets or humans, nor do they spread disease.

Their lifespan last about 18 months, from larvae to adult.

Insecticides like Sevin and light-rigged bug traps can kill the green beetle.
