The San Antonio Spurs hired WNBA star Becky Hammon as an assistant coach.
The Spurs announced the decision on Tuesday, but terms of the contract were not immediately revealed.
On July 23, Hammon announced that she would retire as a player at the end of the 2014 season.
She attended film sessions and sat behind the Spurs bench during home games this past season to observe head coach Gregg Popovich.
Hammon is a six-time WNBA all-star and was named one of the league’s top 15 players of all time back in in 2011.
