It has been one day since four people from Dickson crashed their plane in a backyard in Helena, Alabama.
They were flying from Panama City, Florida when the plane went down.
Those who were on the ground and witnessed what happened are still in disbelief.
“I thought somebody hit our house, something had blown up,” said Rebecca Parr, who lives in Helena. “I ran out and saw black smoke coming up. Luckily, my neighbors came down and they were able to pull them out.”
Despite the severity of the crash, everyone survived.
Dan Smith and his wife Sharon, their son Andy, 18, and his girlfriend Katey, 17, are now recovering.
For Parr, the news was nearly too good to be true.
“We were blessed that this is all the damage we have and people got out safely,” she said.
The victims have a long road to recovery. Sharon Smith remains in critical condition, while the other three passengers are listed in fair condition.
The Federal Aviation Administration has not released a cause of the accident.
