The waiting is over for new Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason. The Commodores open camp Thursday afternoon.
There is a lot to work out, including who will start as quarterback for Vandy this season. There are six players on the roster and Derek Mason said everyone will get a shot.
“Right now we got six quarterbacks and if it goes down to three, then those three will be working with the first unit but right now we’re going to have two offenses. We’re always going to operate off the two offense premise because I think that’s what you have to do in camp. We’re trying to get everyone ready to play and I don’t know who’s gonna play for us right now. I just know that we have some guys committed to the process and we’ll move forward with that,” said Mason.
Another area of interest is how many of the incoming freshmen are destined for a redshirt and how many will play right away. Mason said the younger guys will need to step up in order for the team to be successful.
The Dores open camp at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
