Police are looking for three or four suspects after an employee and restaurant just north of downtown Nashville were robbed early Wednesday morning.

Police said just before 1:30 a.m. a man walked up to an employee in the parking lot of the Express Pizza & Gyros on Jefferson Street and demanded all his cash. Meanwhile, two or three other men went inside the store to steal more money.

After a few minutes, the suspects got in their car and sped away. However, the victim followed them in his own car.

After a very short pursuit, three to five shots were fired from the suspects’ car. The victim was not hit.

Before police could get to the chase the suspects ditched their vehicle and ran away.

When searching their abandoned car police found weapons the suspects left behind.

Detectives and a K-9 unit were on the scene for several hours searching backyards and alleyways for the suspects.

The car was not reported as stolen, so police are looking up the registered owner.

The victim told police the men were wearing sweatshirts that covered their faces. No other suspect description was released.

Police told News 2 they believe they only got away with cash, but were not sure how much was taken.
