A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday for allegedly striking his father with a car following an argument at their Springfield home.
Officers responded to the family’s home in the 1500 block of John L. Patterson Drive around 7:20 p.m. to find 52-year-old Robert Hassell lying in the driveway with a severe leg injury.
During their investigation, police determined Robert had been struck by a car reportedly driven by his son, Bryant Hassell, after he pulled a gun on his son during an argument.
Police recovered a BB gun at the scene.
Bryant was taken into custody for aggravated domestic assault and violation of bond conditions.
Robert was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he remained hospitalized Tuesday.
A warrant for aggravated domestic assault has also been taken out against him.
