A woman’s wallet was stolen at a Franklin restaurant while her purse hung on the back of her chair as she ate.
Police reported the victim’s ATM card was used by a male suspect a short time later to make cash withdrawals from two different ATMs and one in-person withdrawal by a female suspect, totaling more than $3,000.
Authorities said the female suspect was also able to quickly make a fake Oklahoma driver’s license in the name of the victim and use it for make a $2,500 withdrawal at the victim’s bank.
Franklin police are warning women to keep their purses in sight and closed so thieves cannot easily see or remove their contents.
