An arrest has yet to be made in a shooting that injured a 25-year-old woman and five-year-old boy on Monday.

It happened just after 8:30 p.m. on Cannon Street just south of downtown Nashville at the JC Napier home.

Luckily, neither the boy, D’Von McGhee, nor the woman, Marquisha Taylor, was seriously injured, both sustaining minor wounds when they were grazed by bullets.

One of the nearby homes, however, was peppered with gunfire, striking metallic columns on the front porch at least three times.

A grandmother and a two-year-old were inside the home at the time and said it sounded like firecrackers were going off.

The bullets also shook their home when it struck the metal post.

“We thought we were hearing firecrackers at first,” she explained. “Then it jarred the building I was inside and said, ‘What in the world is that?’”

She said the police arrived as soon as it happened, but the shooters were still able to flee.

Cameras are all over the JC Napier homes, but the question is which direction they were facing when the shooting began.

Police won’t comment on the investigation except to say they are looking for four black men driving a silver four-door car.

A motive for the shooting has yet to be determined.
