A Raleigh, North Carolina man was taken into police custody in Maryland after he allegedly left his mother in a hot vehicle for several hours while he was at a casino.

Police were called to a parking garage at Maryland Live! Casino around 6:30 p.m. Monday after the elderly woman was seen alone inside a truck with a partially opened window, News 10 reported.

The 98-year-old woman, who is confined to a wheelchair and requires care, told police she had been alone in the truck since 1:40 p.m.

Police said the victim was confused and incoherent when they arrived to the scene.

Dwight McGinnis Jr. was located and taken into police custody around 7:15 p.m.

McGinnis, 67, is charged with vulnerable adult neglect and was served with an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for an unrelated charge.
