Tennessee Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger was reportedly “sucker-punched” at a Nashville bar Saturday night.
The former LSU standout was at Losers Bar and Grill on Division Street in Midtown with friends when the incident happened.
The bar’s co-owner, Steve Ford, told News 2 Mettenberger did nothing to provoke the attack.
According to Ford, a man yelled “Roll Tide!” to Mettenberger who reportedly turned around and said, “Good luck with that.”
Ford says the man’s friend then hit the 6 foot 5 inch, 224-pound rookie quarterback in the face and ran out.
“His buddy sucker-punched him,” said Ford. “That’s the bottom line. Mettenberger did not throw one punch. Period.”
According to police, no charges have been filed.
Mettenberger was drafted by the Titans in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft.
The Titans report to training camp on Friday.
