After authorities responded to a shoplifting call at the Hendersonville Target, two men reportedly led officers on a pursuit into Madison before finally being captured Monday.
The incident began around 2 p.m. when Hendersonville police arrived at the business just off Vietnam Veterans Boulevard.
Officers told News 2 they made contact with two men suspected of shoplifting who then resisted arrest and fled in a blue Honda Accord.
The men led police down Vietnam Veterans Boulevard before abandoning their vehicle at Old Hickory Boulevard and Graycroft Lane in Madison.
The driver, identified as Kevin Byrd, was arrested at the scene.
The passenger, identified as Stephen Walker, fled to a nearby field where he was apprehended a short time later with the aid of Metro police.
Officers on the scene said the men stole a television from the Hendersonville Target.
Both Byrd and Walker have long criminal histories in Nashville. Byrd has 60 prior arrests while Walker has many as well, including 12 outstanding warrants.
Several charges are expected, including theft and reckless endangerment, with more to follow as the investigation continues.
