The Easton Speed 02 from Murfreesboro are national champions.
The softball team, made up of girls from all over Middle Tennessee, competed in this weekend’s United States Specialty Sports Association 11U national fast-pitch tournament in Kissimmee, Florida.
The team defeated the Cobras from Worth County, Georgia 9-2 Saturday afternoon to claim the national title.
The Speed went undefeated through the tournament, winning seven straight games en route to the national championship.
They faced teams from all over, including Texas, Louisiana, Ohio and Georgia.
Along with the championship, members of the Easton Speed 02 took home individual honors.
Holly Smith of Cookeville was named the Most Valuable Pitcher, while McKayla Marlin of Franklin was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
The Easton Speed 02 are coached by Charlie Bailey of Rockvale, Tandy Marlin of Franklin and Lonny Drayton of Smyrna.
