An accident helped reunite a man with his missing dog eight weeks after the Beagle disappeared from a Colorado park.
Owner David Synder told ABC 7 his Beagle TJ went missing on May 14 while he was with a dog sitter at a park in Fort Collins.
“We posted signs, distributed fliers, made phone calls and got the word out to everyone we could,” Snyder said.
Despite numerous tips coming in on TJ’s whereabouts, attempts to catch him proved to be unsuccessful.
On July 9, TJ was struck by a car in Boulder, Colorado, 50 miles away from his home.
Animal control workers took TJ to a vet where he was reunited with his owner through his microchip.
“I never thought I’d see him again or have him back as a member of the family,” said. “It’s really nice to have him back.”
TJ is continuing to recover after having his right hind leg amputated. He is expected to undergo an additional surgery before returning home next weekend.
