A man was arrested at a Nashville motel on Friday morning for allegedly assaulting another man.

William McGilmer, 30, stayed in a room next to Derrick Stephenson at the Executive Inn on Harding Place.

Police said that McGilmer came out of his room and confronted Stephenson and witness Shontay Smart for causing a disturbance.

McGilmer then pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim and said “I’m going to shoot you.”

Stephenson ran to the front office and McGilmer fled from the scene.

McGilmer returned to the scene shortly afterwards and was arrested.

His charges are assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

On Saturday morning he was in the Davidson County jail with a total $31,000 bond.
