California high school star Kahlil McKenzie could be the latest recruiting coup for Tennessee head coach Butch Jones.
McKenzie is verbally committing Thursday and is expected to pick either Tennessee or Arizona.
The six foot, four inches tall defensive tackle is listed at 310 to 340 pounds and is considered one of the biggest prizes in the country.
Recruiting services Rivals and MaxPreps have him ranked as the 30th and 31st overall player in the country.
Rivals has him ranked as the fourth best defensive tackle in the entire country.
Tennessee does have the inside recruiting track. McKenzie’s father is former Tennessee star linebacker Reggie McKenzie and he is the nephew of former Tennessee great, Raleigh McKenzie.
Jones turned in a top ten class in 2014 and his 2015 class is already ranked 8th overall by 247Sports.
McKenzie would be the second 5-star commitment for the Vols’ class.
