A man wanted by La Vergne police following their response to a domestic assault call was taken into custody in Alabama Tuesday.

Upon their arrival to the domestic assault call on Sunday afternoon, officers spotted suspect James Hummer fleeing the scene.

Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop before a short pursuit ensued. Once Hummer entered the Smyrna city limit, the Smyrna Police Department also responded.

The pursuit was eventually terminated because of the potential danger to the public.

Hummer is accused of driving the wrong-way on Nissan Boulevard, causing three wrecks.

His wrecked vehicle and discarded GPS ankle bracelet were found a short time later.

Hummer was taken into custody at a home in Elkmont, Alabama on Tuesday.

Upon being returned to Tennessee, Hummer will face a number of charges including evading arrest, domestic assault, driving on a revoked license and tampering with a GPS monitoring device, among others.

Hummer is expected to be extradited in the near future.
